Chania International Airport "Ioannis Daskalogiànnis" is located near the port of Souda and 14km from the city of Chania. It took its name by the Cretan rebel Ioannis Daskalogiannis who fought against the Ottoman Empire in the 18th century. It is a gateway to western Crete for a large number of tourists.
